During my time at Data Zoo, a large part of my job was designing large-scale booths for conferences around the world. The largest of which was our yearly appearance at Money 20/20 in Las Vegas, which you can see in the gallery.
This presented a large design challenge. I would be tasked with translating our design system and design language into a huge scale, while ensuring messaging and branding were clear enough to be absorbed and understood in the limited time we had as people would be walking past and looking at our booth in passing.
The biggest challenge here was converting our vibrant colours, especially the brand green, into an equally vibrant CMYK or Pantone version of the colour. It was really challenging communicating to the team why we couldn't just grab the RGB colour and paste it on our booth, though we eventually closed this gap by finding a really close Pantone colour.
The animations you can see featured in the gallery were some short loops that we would feature on the TVs mounted to the booth. They acted as really useful talking points to potential prospects, as they very clearly and simply illustrated what at face value sounds like a very complicated approval and vetting data/identity process.
Each animation visually explains one of two complex functions that Data Zoo offers. The first demonstrates data sequencing, a process involving the user-initiated KYC (Know Your Customer) process. Data Zoo's unique approach runs the user's data through a sequence of individual data sources, rather than a batch of sources all at once. It begins with the most likely source to return a positive result at the lowest cost, moving to more reliable sources at a higher cost as needed. If there is still no positive result, it filters through the next available sources, following rules set by each client.
The second animation highlights how clients can utilize what Data Zoo internally calls the "Data Layer." Essentially, Data Zoo can be integrated into the back end via an API, providing clients with access to Data Zoo's wide variety of data sources and filtering relevant user or business data back to the client.
